"And he went with him; and a great multitude followed him, and they thronged him." — Mark 5:24 (ASV)
He went with him (απηλθεν). Aorist tense. Went off with him promptly, but a great multitude followed him (ηκολουθε), was following, kept following (imperfect tense).
They thronged him (συνεθλιβον αυτον). Imperfect tense again. Only example of (here and in verse 31) this compound verb in the N.T., common in old Greek. Were pressing Jesus so that he could hardly move because of the jam, or even to breathe (συνεπνιγον, Luke 8:42).
