"of the sons of Elizaphan, Shemaiah the chief, and his brethren two hundred;" — 1 Chronicles 15:8 (ASV)

Of the sons of Elizaphan; Shemaiah. —Elzaphan was son of Uzziel, the fourth son of Kohath (Exodus 6:18, 22). Of this Kohathite family, Shemaiah was chief in David’s time (1 Chronicles 24:6).
