"And Jerahmeel had another wife, whose name was Atarah; she was the mother of Onam." — 1 Chronicles 2:26 (ASV)
Atarah. —The word means corona, here and in 1 Chronicles 2:54; probably, the ring-fence or fortifications around a city. So στέφανος was used in Greek (Pindar, Olymp. viii. 42, of the wall of Troy). The plural Ataroth occurs as the name of a town in Numbers 32:3; Joshua 16:5.
The mother of Onam. —See 1 Chronicles 2:28–34 for the ramifications of this clan.
