"and to stand every morning to thank and praise Jehovah, and likewise at even;" — 1 Chronicles 23:30 (ASV)

To thank and praise the Lord. —This refers to the special function of the 4,000 musicians (1 Chronicles 23:5). (Compare 1 Chronicles 16:4.) Those who slew and flayed the victims could hardly have taken part in the service of song.
