Charles Ellicott Commentary
"the thirteenth to Huppah, the fourteenth to Jeshebeab," — 1 Chronicles 24:13 (ASV)
Huppah. —(Covering, canopy; Isaiah 4:5). Used here only as a proper name; but compare “Huppim” (1 Chronicles 7:12).
Joshebeab. —Used only here. It means, May the Father (i.e., God) cause to lead captive! But the Septuagint reads Ιεσβααλ, or Ισβααλ: i.e., Eshbaal, “man of Baal.” So Vulgate, “Isbaab.”
