"for the fifteenth to Jeremoth, his sons and his brethren, twelve:" — 1 Chronicles 25:22 (ASV)

The fifteenth to Jeremoth. —Hebrew, to the fifteenth, to Jeremoth; i.e., regarding the fifteenth lot, it was for Jeremoth. The construction is the same until the end of the chapter.

Spelling, and probably pronunciation, fluctuated between Jeremoth and Jerimoth (1 Chronicles 25:4). (Compare 1 Chronicles 23:23; 1 Chronicles 24:30.) The Septuagint and Vulgate spell “Jerimoth” in both places here; Syriac, “Jarmûth”; Arabic, “Jârâmâth” and “Jarmûth.”
