"The sons of Ladan, the sons of the Gershonites belonging to Ladan, the heads of the fathers` [houses] belonging to Ladan the Gershonite: Jehieli. The sons of Jehieli: Zetham, and Joel his brother, over the treasures of the house of Jehovah." — 1 Chronicles 26:21-22 (ASV)
These two verses contain one statement, namely: The sons of Laadan, that is, the sons of the Gershonite belonging to Laadan, the heads of the houses of Laadan the Gershonite, Jehieli, that is, the sons of Jehieli, Zetham, and Joel his brother, were over the treasures of the house of Jehovah. In other words, Zetham and Joel, the chiefs of the clan Jehiel, which was the leading house of the Laadanite branch of Gershon, had charge of the Temple stores. (Compare 1 Chronicles 23:7–8.) Jehieli looks like the gentilic form of Jehiel, the Jehielite.
