Charles Ellicott Commentary
"Wherefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry." — 1 Corinthians 10:14 (ASV)
Therefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.—These words show that through all the previous argument and warning, the writer had in mind the particular dangers arising from their contact with the pagan world, and especially from participating in the sacrificial feasts. Not because they were enemies, but because they are his “beloved,” he had written in this way to them. Because God is a faithful God—because He makes it possible for you to escape these dangers and sins—flee from idolatry. Do not be trying how near you can get to it, but rather how far you can get from it.
