"that there should be no schism in the body; but [that] the members should have the same care one for another." — 1 Corinthians 12:25 (ASV)
That there should be no schism.—The existence of differences of gifts in the Church had been used by the Corinthians to cause schisms, exalting some gifts and depreciating others, when this very variety in the Church ought, as was the intention of variety in the human body, to create a mutual dependence, which would promote unity.
