SCRIPTURE

"the secrets of his heart are made manifest; and so he will fall down on his face and worship God, declaring that God is among you indeed." — 1 Corinthians 14:25 (ASV)

And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest. It is better to read, and the secrets of his heart are made manifest, this being the reading of the best manuscripts.

This is the third result of the prophetic utterances explained in the previous Note.

His complete conversion is shown by his worshiping God and recognizing the presence of God in that assembly of Christians: “He will confess that you are not mad, but that God is truly in you, and that He is the true God who is in you” (Bengel).

It should be noted that although the Apostle speaks in this passage of an “unlearned” person (i.e., a private person, one who has no gift of prophecy or tongues), or an “unbeliever,” the latter is the one most prominently in his mind. The former is considered only to the extent that he shared the latter's ignorance and inability to understand.
