SCRIPTURE

"But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; then they that are Christ`s, at his coming." — 1 Corinthians 15:23 (ASV)

But every man in his own order. Or, literally, in his own troop. There is to be a sequence in the resurrection of the dead, and Saint Paul explains this by the following three groups:

  1. Christ Himself, the firstfruits.
  2. The faithful in Christ at His coming.
  3. All the rest of mankind at the end, when the final judgment takes place.

The interval between the latter two, regarding its duration, or where or how it will be spent, is not spoken of here. The only point the Apostle has to discuss is the order of the resurrection. (See 1 Thessalonians 4:13; 1 Thessalonians 4:17; Revelation 20:0)
