SCRIPTURE

"But when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory." — 1 Corinthians 15:54 (ASV)

So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption.—The Apostle now transports himself in thought to the time when there will be the actual accomplishment of that for which there is then this absolute and moral necessity. These words bring before us with vivid power the intensity of the Apostle’s own belief in what he is teaching.

Death is swallowed up in victory.—These words, originally referring to the Jewish people (Isaiah 25:8), are naturally applied here to the human race, of which they were the chosen type.
