Charles Ellicott Commentary 1 Corinthians 5:13

"But them that are without God judgeth. Put away the wicked man from among yourselves." — 1 Corinthians 5:13 (ASV)

God judges.—In the best manuscripts the verb is in the future tense: God will judge. He is the judge of the whole earth; we are to leave the heathen world in His hands.

Therefore put away . . .—Better omit “therefore.” The Apostle in this passage adopts the form of pronouncing sentence on great criminals, with which especially the Jewish converts would be familiar (Deuteronomy 13:5; Deuteronomy 17:7; Deuteronomy 24:7).
