Charles Ellicott Commentary 1 Corinthians 7:24

"Brethren, let each man, wherein he was called, therein abide with God." — 1 Corinthians 7:24 (ASV)

Brethren, let every man, wherein he is called.—Better, was called. Here we have an earnest reiteration of the principle underlying the previous instruction: let the converted man remain, regarding his social or political state, as he was. In doing so, he will be with God. They were brought near to God by their conversion, whether free or slave; let them remain so.
