Charles Ellicott Commentary

Charles Ellicott Commentary
"After this thing Jeroboam returned not from his evil way, but made again from among all the people priests of the high places: whosoever would, he consecrated him, that there might be priests of the high places." — 1 Kings 13:33 (ASV)
Whosoever would. —See 1 Kings 12:32. The emphatic tone of the words, whosoever would, he consecrated him, possibly indicates that, in spite of all that Jeroboam and his prophet could do, there was some difficulty in securing candidates for his unauthorized priesthood.
