"And the king put Benaiah the son of Jehoiada in his room over the host; and Zadok the priest did the king put in the room of Abiathar." — 1 Kings 2:35 (ASV)

And the king put: Benaiah succeeds to Joab’s command over the army, but it is notable that in the Hebrew text of 1 Kings 4:2–6, there is no mention of any successor to his command over the bodyguard.
