"And the custom of the priests with the people was, that, when any man offered sacrifice, the priest`s servant came, while the flesh was boiling, with a flesh-hook of three teeth in his hand;" — 1 Samuel 2:13 (ASV)

The priest’s custom. —That is to say, the custom or practice introduced under these robber-priests, who were not content with the modest share of the offerings assigned to them by the Law of Moses. (Leviticus 7:35; Deuteronomy 18:3.)
