"And Jonathan gave his weapons unto his lad, and said unto him, Go, carry them to the city." — 1 Samuel 20:40 (ASV)

His artillery. —Literally, his implements. The word “artillery,” expressive though it is, would hardly now be used in this sense; we should now translate the Hebrew word as “arms.”
