"And when David`s young men came, they spake to Nabal according to all those words in the name of David, and ceased." — 1 Samuel 25:9 (ASV)

And ceased. —Better rendered, and they sat down. The Hebrew word here has been variously translated. Bunsen suggests, “and they waited modestly for an answer”; the Vulgate, followed by some scholars, has “and they were silent.”
