"And the men of Israel went out of Mizpah, and pursued the Philistines, and smote them, until they came under Beth-car." — 1 Samuel 7:11 (ASV)

Until they came under Beth-car. —“House of the Lamb,” or, as some would render it, House of the Field. Of this place we know nothing; it was, no doubt, a Philistine fortress, where the scattered remains of the beaten host were able to rally and defend themselves.
