Charles Ellicott Commentary

Charles Ellicott Commentary
"Now the rest of his acts, and all his ways, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel." — 2 Chronicles 28:26 (ASV)
CLOSING NOTICES (2 Chronicles 28:26–27. Compare to 2 Kings 16:19–20).
Now the rest of his acts, and of all his ways. —The chronicler has varied the usual formula. (See 2 Chronicles 25:26, 2 Chronicles 26:7, and other similar passages, and compare to 2 Kings 16:19.)
But (for) they brought him not into the sepulchres of the kings of Israel. —This is absent from Kings. (See Note on 2 Chronicles 21:20 and 2 Chronicles 26:2–3.) Thenius supposes that this statement is based either upon mistake, or upon zeal for the Law. But why not upon a written authority?
