"And Jehovah hearkened to Hezekiah, and healed the people." — 2 Chronicles 30:20 (ASV)

And the Lord listened to Hezekiah. Compare Genesis 20:17, And Abraham prayed unto God; and God healed Abimelech and his wife, etc. In the present instance, the prayer of Hezekiah is thought of as averting a visitation of Divine wrath in the shape of disease and death. (Compare Leviticus 15:31, Thus shall ye separate the children of Israel from their uncleanness; that they die not in their uncleanness, when they defile my dwelling-place, that is among them.)

For the word heal in connection with uncleanness, compare Isaiah 6:5; Isaiah 6:10. See also 2 Chronicles 7:14, mentioned previously; Hosea 5:13; Hosea 14:4.
