SCRIPTURE

"with him is an arm of flesh; but with us is Jehovah our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah." — 2 Chronicles 32:8 (ASV)

With him is an arm of flesh. — A reminiscence of Jeremiah 17:5, “the man that maketh flesh his arm.” (Compare to Isaiah 31:3: “Their horses are flesh and not spirit.”) His power is human; ours is superhuman.

To fight our battles.1 Samuel 8:20, “a king ... to fight our battles.”
