Charles Ellicott Commentary 2 Chronicles 34:10

"And they delivered it into the hand of the workmen that had the oversight of the house of Jehovah; and the workmen that wrought in the house of Jehovah gave it to mend and repair the house;" — 2 Chronicles 34:10 (ASV)

Put it in. — This means Gave it into.

The workmen. — This refers to the doers of the work, that is, the overseers or contractors. See Note on 2 Chronicles 24:12.

And they gave it to the workmen ... the house. — This is according to the Septuagint and Syriac. The Hebrew text says, and the doers of the work who were working in the house of Jehovah gave it for restoring and repairing the house. To whom the masters gave it is stated in the next verse.

To repair. — This refers to Libdôq, found here only. The term is used this way in Syriac. The original form of the verse is 2 Kings 22:5, where the doers of the work are first the masters, and then the men.
