"And Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hath delivered me a book. And Shaphan read therein before the king." — 2 Chronicles 34:18 (ASV)

Then. — And. The verse is identical with 2 Kings 22:10, except that it substitutes “read in it” for “read it,” which may mean the same thing. It seems too much to assume that the chronicler altered the phrase in order to insinuate that the book was of considerable size.
