Charles Ellicott Commentary
"And the king stood in his place, and made a covenant before Jehovah, to walk after Jehovah, and to keep his commandments, and his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart, and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant that were written in this book." — 2 Chronicles 34:31 (ASV)
In his place. — Al ‘omdô, “on his stand” (2 Chronicles 23:13; Authorised Version, “at his pillar”). Kings has ‘al hâ’ammûd, which appears to be synonymous: “on the dais.”
A covenant. — The covenant.
