"nevertheless thou shalt not build the house; but thy son that shall come forth out of thy loins, he shall build the house for my name." — 2 Chronicles 6:9 (ASV)

Nevertheless, you shall not build. — Only you, you shall not build; with stress on the pronoun.

But your son. — Hebrew, for your son; so the Septuagint; Kings, “but;” and so some manuscripts and the Syriac, Vulgate, and Arabic here. Otherwise, the whole verse is as in Kings.
