Charles Ellicott Commentary 2 Kings 17:18

"Therefore Jehovah was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only." — 2 Kings 17:18 (ASV)

Removed them out of his sight. — By banishing them from his land (2 Kings 17:23) — an expression founded upon the old local conceptions of deity.

The tribe — i.e., the kingdom (Compare to 1 Kings 11:36).
