"And the servants of Amon conspired against him, and put the king to death in his own house." — 2 Kings 21:23 (ASV)

The servants of Amon — that is, according to the common use of the phrase, his courtiers or palace officials. Nothing further is known of the circumstances of the murder. For a conjecture, see 2 Chronicles 33:25.
