Charles Ellicott Commentary 2 Kings 23:17

"Then he said, What monument is that which I see? And the men of the city told him, It is the sepulchre of the man of God, who came from Judah, and proclaimed these things that thou hast done against the altar of Beth-el." — 2 Kings 23:17 (ASV)

What title is this? — What is that monument, or memorial stone? Ezekiel 39:15, sign. Jeremiah uses the same term for a sign-post (Jeremiah 31:21, waymarks). (See 1 Kings 13:29 and following).
