SCRIPTURE

"And his servants carried him in a chariot dead from Megiddo, and brought him to Jerusalem, and buried him in his own sepulchre. And the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and anointed him, and made him king in his father`s stead." — 2 Kings 23:30 (ASV)

And his servants carried him ... —See Notes 2 Chronicles 35:24.

The people of the land. —Thenius says they were the soldiery who had fled to Jerusalem; but this is doubtful.

Took Jehoahaz. —He was not the eldest son (see 2 Kings 23:36), but he may have been thought a more capable prince amid the emergencies of the time, although Jeremiah 22:10 and following shows that this estimate was fallacious.
