SCRIPTURE

"But Gehazi the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, Behold, my master hath spared this Naaman the Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought: as Jehovah liveth, I will run after him, and take somewhat of him." — 2 Kings 5:20 (ASV)

Said —that is, thought.

This Syrian. —He justifies his purpose on the principle of “spoiling the Egyptians.”

But, as the Lord liveth, I will run. —Rather, by the life of Jehovah, but I will run. (Compare Note on 2 Kings 4:30.)
