"And let thy name be magnified for ever, saying, Jehovah of hosts is God over Israel; and the house of thy servant David shall be established before thee." — 2 Samuel 7:26 (ASV)

Let thy name be magnified. —David here, in the true spirit of the Lord’s prayer, puts in the forefront of his petition the hallowed be thy name; and this is the striking feature of all his life, whatever sins he may at times have been led into, that his main object was to live to the glory of God.
