Charles Ellicott Commentary Acts 13:19

"And when he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, he gave [them] their land for an inheritance, for about four hundred and fifty years:" — Acts 13:19 (ASV)

He divided their land to them by lot.—Accepting this reading, the reference is to the command given in Numbers 26:55-56, and recorded as carried into effect in Joshua 14-19. The better manuscripts, however, give a kindred word, which signifies “he gave as an inheritance.”
