"And he drove them from the judgment-seat." — Acts 18:16 (ASV)

He drove them from the judgment seat.—The words imply a magisterial act. The order was given to the lictors to clear the court, and the Jews who did not immediately retreat were exposed to the disgrace of blows from their rods.
