"And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles." — Acts 2:43 (ASV)

Fear came upon every soul.—The Greek text shows a careful distinction of tenses. Fear—i.e., reverential awe—came specially at that time; the signs and wonders were continually performed. (See Note on Acts 2:19.)
