"for we cannot but speak the things which we saw and heard." — Acts 4:20 (ASV)

We cannot but speak . . .—The pronoun is emphatic: “we, for our part” . . . The question at issue was one of bearing witness, and that witness they had received a special command to bear (Acts 1:8).
