"The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew, hanging him on a tree." — Acts 5:30 (ASV)
Whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.—This synonym for crucifying comes from the LXX. version of Deuteronomy 21:23, where it is used in a wider sense, including analogous forms of punishment, such as hanging or impaling. We encounter it again in Peter’s speech to Cornelius (Acts 10:39).
