SCRIPTURE

"Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken in pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshing-floors; and the wind carried them away, so that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth." — Daniel 2:35 (ASV)

Like the chaff — This language recalls Psalm 1:4; Psalms 2:9. It is emblematic of Divine judgments, as seen in Isaiah 41:15-16, Jeremiah 51:33, and others. Compare this with the description of the Judgment in Daniel 7:9-14.

Observe, however, that the stone did not crush the head, breast, or loins of the body. These became fragments by falling when the feet were broken .
