Charles Ellicott Commentary

Charles Ellicott Commentary
"And in the days of those kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed, nor shall the sovereignty thereof be left to another people; but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever." — Daniel 2:44 (ASV)
In the days of these kings.—Yet no kings have been mentioned until now. They must therefore correspond to the toes of the image. (Compare to Daniel 7:24.) It appears therefore that while this fourth kingdom still manages to exist in some modified form, while its component parts are in a state of war and turmoil, the kingdom of God shall come. (Compare to Daniel 7:25-27.)
