"And ye returned and wept before Jehovah; but Jehovah hearkened not to your voice, nor gave ear unto you." — Deuteronomy 1:45 (ASV)

And ye returned and wept before the Lord. —This fact is not related in Numbers 14:0. It shows the personal knowledge of the writer, and that the narrative is not simply drawn from the earlier books.
