SCRIPTURE

"but thou shalt eat them before Jehovah thy God in the place which Jehovah thy God shall choose, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy man-servant, and thy maid-servant, and the Levite that is within thy gates: and thou shalt rejoice before Jehovah thy God in all that thou puttest thy hand unto." — Deuteronomy 12:18 (ASV)

The Levite that is within your gates. — The distribution of the Levites throughout the several tribes , and carried out by Joshua (Deuteronomy 21:0), is here anticipated. The Levites had this provision in Israel until Jeroboam and his sons cast them off, when they migrated to the kingdom of Judah (2 Chronicles 11:13–14).
