Charles Ellicott Commentary

Charles Ellicott Commentary
"In the morning thou shalt say, Would it were even! and at even thou shalt say, Would it were morning! for the fear of thy heart which thou shalt fear, and for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see." — Deuteronomy 28:67 (ASV)
Thou shalt say. —The Talmud expounds this as referring to the constant increase of trouble. Yesterday evening this morning was longed for. Today the trouble is more terrible, and every hour adds to the curse. But the description in the text needs nothing to augment its horrors.
