Charles Ellicott Commentary Ecclesiastes 1:11

"There is no remembrance of the former [generations]; neither shall there be any remembrance of the latter [generations] that are to come, among those that shall come after." — Ecclesiastes 1:11 (ASV)

If anything appears new, this is only because its previous occurrence has been forgotten. So likewise will those of this generation be forgotten by those who succeed them.
