"So the posts that rode upon swift steeds that were used in the king`s service went out, being hastened and pressed on by the king`s commandment; and the decree was given out in Shushan the palace." — Esther 8:14 (ASV)
Mules and camels. —See above on Esther 8:10.
Being hastened. —Why this haste, since nearly nine months (lacking ten days) still remained before the first edict would come into effect? There were likely fears that the first edict, which indicated a distinct animus of the Court against the Jews, might have been interpreted freely, according to its spirit, and its date anticipated by eager partisans.
