SCRIPTURE

"And the Egyptians were urgent upon the people, to send them out of the land in haste; for they said, We are all dead men." — Exodus 12:33 (ASV)

The Egyptians were urgent. —Not only Pharaoh, but the Egyptian nation generally was anxious for the immediate departure of the Israelites, and expedited it in every way. This must have greatly facilitated all of them setting forth at once. It also accounts for the readiness of the Egyptians to part with their “jewels” and “raiment” (Exodus 12:35).
