"And it shall be, when Jehovah shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanite, as he sware unto thee and to thy fathers, and shall give it thee," — Exodus 13:11 (ASV)

The land of the Canaanites. — Either their superior importance or their genealogical position (Genesis 10:15) caused the term “Canaanites” to be used inclusively of all the Palestinian nations. The land is always the land of Canaan (Genesis 11:31; Genesis 12:5; Genesis 13:12, and other similar passages).
