"And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a pot, and put an omerful of manna therein, and lay it up before Jehovah, to be kept throughout your generations." — Exodus 16:33 (ASV)
Lay it up before the Lord. —Compare Exodus 16:33, where Aaron is said to have laid it up before the Testimony, that is, the Two Tables. According to the writer of the Epistle to the Hebrews, the Ark of the Covenant contained three things only—the tables, the pot of manna, and Aaron’s rod that budded (Hebrews 9:4). The deposit of the manna in so sacred a place may be accounted for by its typifying the true bread from heaven (John 6:32).
