Charles Ellicott Commentary

Charles Ellicott Commentary
"And he made a screen for the door of the Tent, of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen, the work of the embroiderer; and the five pillars of it with their hooks: and he overlaid their capitals and their fillets with gold; and their five sockets were of brass." — Exodus 36:37-38 (ASV)
These verses correspond mainly to Exodus 36:36-37 of Exodus 26:0, which they presuppose and confirm, adding, however, one new fact, namely, that the capitals of the five pillars were overlaid with gold. Either God had given no order on this point, or Moses had omitted to record it.
