Charles Ellicott Commentary Exodus 4:17

"And thou shalt take in thy hand this rod, wherewith thou shalt do the signs." — Exodus 4:17 (ASV)

This rod, that is, "the rod that had been changed into a serpent," as the Septuagint paraphrase.

Signs. —Rather, “the signs” (τὰ σημεῖα , Septuagint); that is, the signs which you will have to perform, as already implied in Exodus 3:20.
